With another year, comes another round of festival reviews. 2011 saw us revisit four of our favorite events from years past: B.O.M.B, Bonnaroo, Camp Bisco, and Electric Zoo. It plases us to note that in all but one instance, each festival scored better than in years past. Bonnaroo solidified itself as the premier North American camping festival. Camp Bisco hosted a third more attendees (compared to the year before), and still managed to host a well-organized event with one of the most stellar lineups of 2011. Electric Zoo grew into its own this year, and became real competition for Ultra. B.O.M.B. showcased a strong lineup, but in switching venues, sacrificed much quality.

If anything, our coverage of this handful of events during the past year left us with high hopes for the future of the North American Music Festival. With luck, the trend will continue, and 2012's festival spread will be better than ever before.

We attended the third annual B.O.M.B. (Bring Our Music Back) Festival held at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, CT on May 28 & 29. This is B.O.M.B. Fest’s first year at the Comcast Theater. What possesses a person to make an eighteen hour drive from the relative comforts of their home in New York all the way down to Tennessee for a four-day jaunt at a music festival? The answer, my friends, is Bonnaroo. As the crown jewel of North American music festivals, we at Inyourspeakers Media held quite lofty expectations for this tenth iteration of the event. Though we ran into a few snags here and there, we found ourselves very...

Another year in upstate New York meant another adrenaline-fueled romp at the three-day Camp Bisco. This year’s iteration was no less insane (and arguably more so) than last year’s festival at the Indian Lookout Country Club. As Inyourspeakers’ second official time out at the event, we had the benefit of being able to...

Randall’s Island pulsed with excitement and electronic music this past Labor Day weekend as Electric Zoo once again made the oft overlooked island home to the oft overlooked genre. Thirty-four acts ranging from dubstep to house from trance to electro set crowds a-dancing, nodding, bobbing and weaving in this third iteration of the event. 2011 saw some of the largest acts in electronic dance music take the stage; for instance,...
