You never know what to expect form Devendra Banhart's musical offerings. Ambiguously fraught lyrics, unbelievably cool ever-changing style, and the ability to transpose a brand new world full of bright colors all tend to make appearances - but then again who wants predictability? Different is the new safe bet. And odd is the new cool. Devendra Banhart's latest video for the single, "Baby," is definetly not expected and sure as hell sounds cool.
The down-right trip fest features a musical A-team of guests including: GZA from Wu-Tang, Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT and The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Stellar vocals and poignantly provocative lyricism bends through the song, creating a new level of cool for the 21st century cross-legged hippy. His appeal has never been so tantalizing. The feature was directed by Ron Winter and is available for your viewing pleasure down below. Is it just us, or does there seem to be some sort of competition erupting between artists to see who can get the most celebrities in their videos? First it's Vampire Weekend, now Banhart. Watch out for Gorillaz featuring an animated simulation of Tupac Shakur in the near future
