Treasure Island celebrated their third year with one of the summer's most exciting lineups, including The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, Grizzly Bear, MSTRKRFT, MGMT, Beirut, Yo La Tengo and Passion Pit -- just to name a few.

The stellar roster and performances were all the festival had to boast, however, as the attractions and accommodations outside the music left quite a bit to be desired. The pirate/nautical theme was half-assed, the food was bad, the alcohol overpriced (even by festival standards), the booths and art projects weak. Even the "green festival" shtick that every other festival nailed this summer felt tacked on at the last minute and, judging by the wreckage left both nights, a sound failure.

Were the spirited performances of such a great lineup enough to redeem the festival? Yes. Easily. That being said, I would only recommend checking out Treasure Island next year if the lineup is incredible, or you're already local to the Bay area. Otherwise, your hard-earned dollars would be better put towards any number of other festivals throughout the year.
