Hold your breath for this bit of extremely wonderful news, kids: indie rock veterans Sunny Day Real Estate have announced that they are going to record a new album.
On Monday evening, radio jockey legend Marco Collins announced via Twitter that he received an email from Nate Mendel. In the email, Collins says that Mendel, member of both Sunny Day Real Estate and Foo Fighters, declared that the recording of a new Sunny Day Real Estate album would commence this May.
It's important to consider that this announcement comes not entirely unexpected; Jeremy Enigk and Co. did reunite last year. Also, on their reunion tour, they played a brand new song, which is always a good indicator that things are going well, and that the possibility of a new album isn't entirely impossible. Whether or not Sub-Pop Records - who just rereleased both the band's 1994 debut Diary and LP2 last year - will sponsor the recording of the new Sunny Day Real Estate album has yet to be announced. A release date for the new record is also unknown, but rest assured that Inyourspeakers will release the full report when it becomes known.
