Lucent Dossier Experience comes forth with a new record, Light of the World, that blurs the line between world music and EDM. It may not be the most appealing combination but it’s an interesting concept. It's a concept that involves some experimentation, and a lot of trial and error.

A daunting narrative sets the tone for the spiritually-inclined record at the very beginning of its opener, “As Above So Below.” The track is earthly with subtle electronic effects and a bellowing bass between tribal drumming and euphoric waves of sitar.

The next track, “Aqueous Mystified,” is more oriented towards the dubstep audience, with drop and wobble galore. It lacks the human element that was present in "As Above Sp Below," but nonetheless, the fierce track still keeps its listeners on the tips of their toes.

“Gypsy Eyes” is an electrifying raga for the more mellowed out crowd. The element of trance is thrown into play while more tribal drumming takes the lead, serving as our guide into the spirit realm. The primitive sound comes straight from the heart chakra, as the beat allows us to begin to surrender to the flow.

Keeping in touch with the motherland, “Kundalini” brings us into the heart of India. The track meshes the fast-paced street music of India with hard-hitting electronic elements of the EDM scene. It’s not exactly the smoothest combination, but it definitely sparks some intrigue.

Lucent Dossier Experience has some great intentions on Light of the World, but there seems to be too much emphasis on the dubstep element, rather than the human element. There appears to be a solid connection between raga and trance, but there’s no chemistry between raga and loud, aggressive bass. If you’re into dubstep than definitely give Light of the World a listen, but if you’re into world music, this may not be the record for you.
