The Octopus Project

In recent months, The Octopus Project have made quite a name for themselves. They debuted their upcoming record, Hexadecagon, at SXSW 2010, to a very large and very pleased crowd. The performance gained incredible praise from such outlets as Paste Magazine, The Austin American Statesman, and USA Today, who ranked the performance as one of the top five shows of SXSW. So, it really comes as no surprise that these guys (and gal) would glean the finest essences from the new record to take on their upcoming US tour with them. And that is exactly what they plan on doing. Catch a full list of tour dates below, all but one with Starfucker!

Blonde Redhead

Blonde Redhead, fronted by Kazu Makino and twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace, have been making waves in the indie dream pop pool lately. For a band that has been around for over fifteen years, with members hailing from Italy and New York (and oftentimes singing in these languages, as well as Japanese and French), these guys (and lady) have turned the heads of some of rock's most important acts. First gaining the attention of Sonic Youth's drummer, Steve Shelley, the band were subseqently able to produce their self-titled debut in 1995 with Shelley's assistance. However, the band was able to make four more albums before Makino had an accident with a horse that left her recovering for almost four years. That span of time led for 2004's Misery Is a Butterfly to procure, and many of the themes throughout the album reflect Makino's incident and subsequent tumultuous recovery. The band went on to release 23 in 2007, and are finally ready to release another album. Penny Sparkle is slated for a September 14 release on 4AD Records, but not before the group heads out on both European and American tours. Get all the dates below!
