On their latest remix, Brooklyn duo Warm Ghost takes to the task of transforming an a cappella gem from the barebones folk trio Mountain Man.

The last we heard from Warm Ghost was their Uncut Diamond EP, where they showed off a knack for sultry electronics and subtle knick knacks of sound. They seem to know what they're doing when it comes to composition, but remixing an a cappella song like "Play it Right" is a complex task. There's not a whole lot to draw from; a cappella is meant to be uncomplicated and remixing is meant to be transformative, so choosing what to keep and what to cut is a heavy decision. Just to establish how stripped down the original is, take a look at this video:

Now take a listen to the remix below. Warm Ghost succeeds in building the structure from the ground up and somehow convincingly supporting the vocals without overwhelming them. And that's important considering how well these women sing. You can grab "Play It Right" remix here.

Warm Ghost has a full-length due out this year not to mention shows at SXSW and a few in the Northeast after that. Check those dates here.
