The Walkmen could be coming your way this fall, as they have announced over thirty dates for an extensive tour, including venues in the US, Canada, and Europe. The Walkmen’s new album, Lisbon, is also set to be released September 14 via Fat Possum. Get tour dates and more album information after the jump.
The last release from the Walkmen was 2008’s You & Me. Lisbon has been recorded over the past two years, mostly in warehouses in Brooklyn and Philadelphia; The Portuguese title city, Lisbon, was also the setting for some song-writing. The 11-track record boasts an impressive production and engineering team: John Congleton (St. Vincent, Mountain Goats, Thermals) and Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Les Savy Fav).
And although the Walkmen’s frontman Hamilton Leithauser has listed Elvis and early Sun Record tracks as inspiration, expect the album to stray from that as he has also stated, "The instrumentation is very simple, and then there's a very loud vocal and a softish drum. There is a slapback guitar on everything."
Depending on the date, you can catch the Walkmen with one or two of the following: Grizzly Bear, Gang Gang Dance, Helio Sequence, the National, Japandroids, A.A. Bondy, or the Black Keys.
