Shot in the once well heeled retirement destination of California's Salton Sea, Rusko's video for "Everyday" sounds like the producer hired Alvin & the Chipmunks to sing over a musical track of old-school video games.

The video, on the other hand, stands in stark juxtaposition -- images of the discarded people, buildings, and objects of the mostly-abandoned Salton Sea sweep across the screen. The art of contrast is amazing in this Jason Miller directed video. There’s something about it that I love.

The music, on the other hand, falls short. Rusko is an amazingly talented producer/DJ, and has many other outstanding tracks available. “Everyday” is standard dubstep dance fare, and not horribly innovative.

Rusko (a.k.a. Christopher Mercer) is a London (via Leeds) music producer/DJ. His future as a producer/musician was written in the stars as he comes from a musical family, and was surrounded by everything from pianos to banjos as a kid. Rusko has worked with a spectacular lineup of musicians that include Adele, Diplo, Rhianna, M.I.A., Kid Sister, Wiley, and more.

For a different take on “Everyday,” check out Netsky’s bass crushing remix.
