When Flying Lotus released Cosmogramma a couple of months ago, we said, “If you haven’t yet wrapped your head around what he’s already been doing, Cosmogramma isn’t the pop crossover smash that is going to make you re-evaluate his entire catalog. If you are already in his wheelhouse, you will surely find yourself more comfortable upon hearing this rare and exotic gem of a forward thinking electronic jazz record.” Well, actions speak louder than words, and his new video for “MmmHmm” certainly stays true to this point.

If you enjoyed the song, but were left wondering what it was actually about, the video will only further your confusion while simultaneously leaving you comfortable with its psychedelic nature. The video begins with an 80s-esque cosmic vision centered around a Lotus woman and Indian chief, but quickly switches to an pixilated, 8-bit Super Mario throw-back. The video finally comes full circle with the weird looking lotus woman / Indian chief hanging out in the middle of space.
