Dum Dum Girls released their debut album, i Will Be, through Sub Pop earlier this year, and boy did us music lovers sit up and take notice. IYS placed a solid stamp of approval on it upon its release. Although the revivalist melodies find it hard to grab a long-term imbalance of the brain, a short term one will do for their debut. The quartet have released a new video for their latest single, "Bhang Bhang, I'm A Burnout." Check it out after the jump.

The new video is a dizzying spectacle. The low-budget visuals ooze with influence from early shoegaze videos like those from Chapterhouse. The period of the shoegaze movement may be more than just a musical influence. Female artists began to show up more frequently in less theme-heavy roles. It seems as though the ladies within bands like Chapterhouse and My Bloody Valentine were more comfortable in their own skin, not being subjected to feminine costumes and elaborate make-up, it was a time when the artistry and input from female musicians was at it's most thought-provoking and beautiful. Expect a lot more from this group.
