Courtesy of Grinding Tapes Recording Company, on August 20 Club Passim in Cambridge will be overtaken by some of the area's coolest bands. tiny mtns, The Points North, and Dreamtigers will all take the stage that evening, but don't fret if you don't recognize these names. InYourSpeakers is here with all the details on each of the bands.

The newest project from Elijah Wyman, tiny mtns is the grandest blend of indie rock, folk, and acoustic efforts. With the help of some talented North Shore musicians, Wyman meshes the sounds of typical folk with rock, making for a really easy listen. It sounds like MeWithoutYou meets a very shy Say Anything meets Jason Webley. Give Wyman a shot, he's definitely worth the wonderful, likable listen.

Chosen as one of The Boston Globe's top 11 releases of 2009, The Points North are the next best thing in folk music. They combine acoustic guitar samplings with flute to create some really delicious and unparalleled sounds. No, this isn't an attempt to supercede Justin Vernon (Bon Iver); The Points North create their own, undeniably memorable sound with the simplest of instruments.

Formed in 2009, Dreamtigers was built up from the ashes of some of New England's rock and post-hardcore groups, including Acta Non Verba and Ambitions. Hailing from Beverly, MA, Dreamtigers will bring a unique sound to the evening's show. They're definitely rock, but they are not just another disposable, pop rock flavor of the week. These guys are going to introduce really distinct taste to Club Passim, especially now that they've expanded their sound to incorporate a bit of folk rock.
