Ohio band The National get the nod for soundtracking the game "Portal 2." Read!
Coming together in 1999, Brooklyn-based Matt Berninger, coupled with two pairs of brothers: Aaron and Bryce Dessner, as well as Scott and Bryan Devendorf create what today's music culture might call "touching and captivating." The band started off small within the indie world, releasing their first full-length album The National and Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers as well as a considerably "crucial" album called Cherry Tree.
The Nationals have done quite a bit of notable work on their way to indie stardom, whether it was touring with REM, appearing on the Late Night with David Letterman show, or even having Barack Obama turn their song "Fake Empire" into a unstated anthem for his presidential candidacy run. These guys have done plenty and there's seems to be nothing that can stop them or their musical passion.
But one of their most recent accomplishments would be their song "Exile Vilify" premiering in the gaming series Portal 2; operating in a realm similar to artists like Arcade Fire and Cold War Kids.
I suggest if you are one for this genre of music, you give them a listen - and if you're a Portal enthusiast, this will only rekindle your motivation to continue on within the series as Portal 2 has definitely continued the excitement out of the first one.
