The strawberry blonde-haired experimental pop songstress Marnie Stern is heading full-steam ahead in the direction of her next album release this fall. The self-titled album will drop on October 5 via Kill Rock Stars. Get all the album details and a free track from her next record after the jump!

New York's Marnie Stern is probably best known for her signature finger tapping style of guitar playing, which has garnered her a pretty incredible amount of positive acclaim. And her newest upcoming record, Marnie Stern, will be no different. Once again, Stern has teamed up with her long-time friend and collaborator Zach Hill to handle the album's percussion. Additionally, she rallied the support of Canadian bass player Matthew Flegel (of the band Women) and up-and-coming mixer Lars Stalfors (Mars Volta, Funeral Party) to make Marnie Stern sound like Marnie Stern, or possibly somewhat better.

Marnie Stern, the person, never strays too far from herself on Marnie Stern, the record. This female musician is her music. She says of her upcoming record, "I wanted to pay more attention to the delicate and subtly layered spaces in between sound and just make things louder and fuller where I didn't on my last 2 records." When asked to sum up her record, she called it "direct and honest and real. I'm no longer taking cover under guitar lines or yelping vocals."
