A Lull's finely crafted experimental elecro indie pop smacks of Sigur Ros in its use of poppy synths and creative percussion; the combination thereof creates rhythms that are part mystical and part primal. When blended with beautifully crafted songwriting, the result is a sound that is as unique as it is memorable. Put simply, A Lull's experimental sonic landscape blurs the lines between the synthesized and organic.

A Lull began with an ending (as many things do). In 2008, when Nigel Evan Dennis and Todd Miller's former bands broke apart, the duo set off to create a completely different style of music. The two lured Mike Brown home from his Boston gig, and recruited Ashwin Deepankar and Aaron Vincel to round out the lineup.

After countless hours in practice spaces, basements, and bedrooms, they recorded over seventy-five songs and partial song ideas in the process of creating their full-length debut, Confetti. The result is comprised of mashed up layers of guitars, bass, synths, vocals, and a joyous percussion section. Since A Lull recorded everything themselves, the traditional constraints that accompany "in studio" production are largely nonexistent in their work.

"Weapons For War," the lead single from Confetti, harnesses the percussive and melodic energy of A Lull into a four-and-a-half minute wind storm. Below, you'll find the original, as well as three remixes that A Lull recently sent our way. The remixes include work from Spirituals (file this one under glitch hop, a-la Four Tet), fellow Chicago residents Houses (via a frenetic mix that includes a beautiful three-plus minute long ambient outro), and Melting Season (this a percussion-heavy re-work may just be the most unique of the bunch).
