It was November when we got our first look at "Wrinklecarver" from Gobble Gobble. Today, they dropped the 12" single on us called Boring Horror. Let's take a look.

For the unaffiliated, Gobble Gobble is a project led by Cecil Frena. Whether it's an original or one of their many remixes, Gobble Gobble brings an undeniable energy to their craft and seem to relish in pushing the limits of how weird pop music can be. "Wrinklecarver," also on this record, is a charged compilation of tweaked house instruments and emphatically poppy vocals. It's not for everybody, but you can't fault them for a lack of effort. These songs are fine-tuned, well-pruned and structured. What comes out on the other side might not move you, but at least it's a thorough effort.

Check out "Boring Horror," the title track below. Also on Boring Horror is a few original B-sides and subsequent remixes, not a bad deal. In fact, those remixes have some of the best moments on the release, from Sundance and Second Date. For me, the best track is easily "Seizure to the Metronome," where the weirdness edges out the catchiness by a percent or so and the electronic instruments are at their electronicest and most dynamic.
