Today's Daily Dose of New Music takes us all over the map, both geographically and musically. There is a little bit of 1980s LA punk rock by-way-of Portland-based disco darlings, YACHT; some brand new indie rock from Montreal via Sunns; an electro house collab between The Toxic Avenger and French rapper Orelsan; an entire experimental folk album from Northern California and a dreamy cut from an up-and-coming artist out of Southern California. Check it all out after the break.

Yacht - Nausea (X Cover)

Though Portland native Jona Bechtolt has been making music under the name YACHT since 2003, it was last year's See Mystery Lights that put them (now a duo, with the joining of Claire Evans) in the spotlight, garnering rave critical reviews (basically) across the board. While reportedly at work on their next album, YACHT was recently on BB6 for an interview and live performance, which is where this cover of X's "Nausea" was recorded live.

Speaking of the cover, Bechtolt said, "X has long been one of YACHT’s favorite bands. Doing a cover of their “Nausea” allowed us to lay hands, albeit momentarily, on the very structure of their greatness. To get lost inside a song we love, a song immortalized in our minds for its chaotic and sludgy performance in the opening credits of The Decline of Western Civilization. We wear Nausea like a cloak, a little ill-fitting perhaps, but draped with reverence."

Suuns - EP

Montreal-based outfit Suuns have just been signed to Secretly Canadian, and to commemorate the event, they're giving away a full EP for the low, low cost of a working email address. Check it out here.

In the Circuit of the Sun - c.2009

Here we have a positively loaded experimental-folk album from the relatively unknown project of Tofer Moran , In the Circuit of the Sun. This record blends sounds reminicent of Beruit, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and Akron / Family to create something that isn't necessarily unique, but is definitely interesting to listen to. As the project's name suggests, this album is, without a doubt, made for the summer.

Give a listen to the two tracks included below, and if your interest is piqued, download the whole album here.

Evan Voytas - I Took a Trip on a Plane

While Evan Voytas may not yet be a household name, at the rate the LA-based singer/multi-instrumentalist is going, by the time his yet-unnamed debut LP drops later this year, he'll have earned all of our attention.

Take this track, "I Took a Trip on a Plane," for example. This no-frills beauty of a track feels custom-made for a lazy summer afternoon, it's breezy vocals and guitar-string plucking both soothing to the ear and at-once familiar feeling. In today's sample-centric music world, Voytas' songwriting and arrangement here would probably be dismissed as simplistic, but that's just what makes it such a beautiful piece of pop music.

The Toxic Avenger - N'importe Comment (feat. Orelsan)

And, what would a Daily Dose of New Music be without a bit of Electro House? Today's banger is a track from The Toxic Avenger that features a hefty side of (French) rap by Orelsan. We'll let the video for one speak for itself (wouldn't life be much cooler if it was like an iphone?).
