Don’t let the name fool you. There’s nothing tiresome about the new super-group led by Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody. Tired Pony unites an all-star cast of Irish, Scottish and American musicians to create “a twisted love letter to the States.” Their first album debuts on July 12th, 2010.

Lightbody is joined by a superb supporting cast to help realize his long-term ambition to make a country album. The core group includes the following: on guitar, Peter Buck (R.E.M.), drummer Ruchard Colburn (Belle & Sebastian), and bassist Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5). Zooey Deschanel, M. Ward and Tom Smith make guest appearances on the album to be called The Place We Ran From.

If you have any doubts as to whether a group of Scottish and Irish Indie rockers can make a decent country album, visit the Tired Pony website for a glimpse of the band in the studio. Your doubts will be resolved as you hear a truly unique sound, a perfect blend of creativity, innovation and tribute to past country groups.

Like always, keep checking back here at IYS for more news on Tired Pony.
