Music Player:

Last week, The White Stripes announced their breakup, adding "The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want." With this "Seven Nation Army" remix, The Glitch Mob accepts that ownership and takes the song to a new level.

Though The Glitch Mob started work on this remix last November, they decided in light of the Stripes' big news that it was time to let it out.

One of the coolest things about this track is how intact the original remains while sounding like something new. Jack White's vocals stay in the foreground, but get the benefit of some twisty sound effects. The chorus, once the explosive answer to the looming aggression in the verse, gets translated to half-time and really changes the dynamic of the song. "Seven Nation Army" is one of the best riffs (or the best, according to Rolling Stone) from one of the best bands in recent history, but The Glitch Mob doesn't let the remix rest on its laurels. Also this week is the release of The Glitch Mob's Drink The Sea: The Remixes Vol. 2. They dropped their debut full-length, called Drink The Sea last June and have since put out the first volume of the album's remixes. On Saturday, they drop the second volume, available here.

More detail when they're out there.
