We stumbled across this Ben Craw edited video set to the terrific Locksley tune, “The Whip.” The video has been making the rounds on YouTube, etc. for a little over a month or so now. The track features outtakes from over a dozen films, such as “Risky Business,” “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “White Nights,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Billy Elliot,” “Dirty Dancing,” “Purple Rain,” “Wayne’s World,” “Ghost Busters,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “Rocky IV,” “Batman (the campy 70’s version),” “Funny Face,” “School of Rock,” and concert footage from Michael Jackson. In short, it’s a wonderfully fun trip through a great tune, and some “memory lane” movie clips, that must have kept Ben Craw busy for weeks.
Ben Craw is the video editor at The Huffington Post. Prior to that, he worked a Talking Points Memo, where he was responsible for their political summary “The Day in 100 Seconds” that compacted an entire day’s worth of political news into 100 tightly edited seconds of news.
Locksley has become one of my favorite bands. This Madison, WI band lays down some Beatles-esqu harmonies, and combines it with some Led Zep rock, into tight pop tunes that’ll get you on your feet. Toss in some early punk and you have Locksley’s sound nailed. The original four members of Locksley (Jesse Laz – lead vocals & guitars, Kai Kennedy – guitars, Aaron Collins – bass, Sam Bair - drums) met in high school and have been playing together since 2003. Aaron has since been replaced by Jesse’s younger brother, Jordan. Locksley recently released their self-titled “debut” album – it’s basically, the best songs from Be In Love, plus some new material – about half and half.
