The Vaccines
Music Player:

If you slept through last summer, or were busy enjoying a Brit music free past few months, you may have missed The Vaccines.

The lads launched their career into the stratosphere this year with the release of their debut album, What Did You Expect from The Vaccines. They’ve been riding a tidal wave of success fueled by great hooks, humorous lyrics, and exciting live shows ever since.

Speaking of them “riding waves” . . . hear that juicy 60’s surf punk sound masked with some retro 80’s Smiths, or maybe a hint of Interpol? The Vaccines formed in 2009 when pals Justin Young (guitar/vocals), and Freddie Cowan (guitar) got together to jam. Árni Hjörvar (bass), and Pete Robertson (drums) soon joined them in early 2010. The band first tasted success when they uploaded a demo of "If You Wanna" to that hit-maker, YouTube, and the song got notice and raves from BBC heavyweight Zane Lowe, who named it as his “Hottest Record In The World” in August 2010.

Since the release of What Did You Expect from The Vaccines on March 2011 in the UK, and May 31 in the U.S, the album has hit gold in the UK, and charted here. The band has kept up a solid touring schedule, with shows at the Reading & Leeds festivals, and the launch of a monster tours with the Arctic Monkeys, and they’ve landed on the short list for several “Best Of” awards.

“She’s only 17. So she’s probably not ready!” So begins “Norgaard” one of The Vaccines latest singles, and Bob Marlow directed video about Danish Supermodel Amanda Norgaard. We’ve included that fun video, and “If You Wanna” below. If you like it, and you will, check out their website for more great music.
