Indie rock rave faves, Surfer Blood, just announced their new EP, Third Eye Blind, via Twitter on January 6. IYS has absolutely no idea what, if any, correlation there is to the band by the same name, so don’t even ask.
These West Palm Beach rockers topped the critics charts in 2009 with their debut single, "Swim," named as the 37th best track on Pitchfork's 100 Best Songs of 2009. January 2010’s debut disc, Astro Coast met with similar praise, and in general, kicked ass.
If you’re wondering about the name, the band coined the phrase when one of the band members just randomly yelled it out over the radio in the backseat of the band’s car. For the record, none of the band actually surfs, and their high school days were made miserable by the surf kids of their youth. Everybody’s got their something!
There’s not much (read ZERO) info./tracks, etc. on the new disc, so we’ll have to tide you over with “Harmonix” from Astro Coast. Surfer Blood will be on the road starting in April to support the new album. We can’t wait.
