Santigold is one of the brightest stars working today. As such, it's no surprise that she and Karen O (of Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame) shine extra-brightly on “Go!” Nick Zinner (another YYY member) contributes to the track as well with a bit of guitar shred. The song is a rail against the modern culture of instant gratification, and being famous just for being famous. The message is carried by an industrial, head shaking beat, and vocal hints of Bow Wow Wow and Gwen Stefani.

Not many R&B/electronic artists started life as punk rockers. Well, this must be why Santigold is so appealing to me. Santigold (born Santi White, also used the name “Santogold”) is a songwriter, producer, and singer. She started her career as a rep for A&R records, but left to write and executive produce How I Do, the debut album from Res. This R&B/electro artist was also the singer in punk band, Stiffed, in the mid 2000s. Since then, she’s recorded, performed with and wrote for many heavy hitters in the music biz, including Mark Ronson, Lykke LI, M.I.A., Lily Allen, Beastie Boys (she helps out on their new disc, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two), and Pharrell.

While Santigold has certainly kept busy since 2008’s enormously successful debut album, Santogold, this is her first new track since then. “Go” is from Santigold’s new album (the first as “Santigold”), American Dreaming, in the works. Look for it sometime later this year. Check out “Go” below.
