Have you resolved to listen to better music in 2011? Well, if so, the Get Up Kids are back, and they’re here to help! Their new disc after a seven year hiatus, There Are Rules, is due out on January 25th, and it promises to make you happy.

There Are Rules is the band's fifth LP, and first on their own label, Quality Hill Records. In a recent interview with Stereogum, Matt Pryor explained by saying, “We felt that with the proverbial rebirth of the band we wanted to start our own label. Do everything ourselves like we did in the beginning.”

The Get Up Kids have been around for a while. If you are not amiliar with them, the Kids started out as an alt rock band from KCMO, and grew into become the iconic mid-90's emo band. In-band fighting led to a 2005 breakup, but they were back, refreshed, and ready to rock in 2009 for the Something to Write Home About tenth anniversary reunion tour.

The band felt the love, and returned the studio to write new material for their Simple Science EP, and There Are Rules. If the “Regents Court” cut is any indication, you’re going to love it!

The Get Up Kids kick off their North American Tour on January 21, 2011. A second leg of the tour is slated for February and March, and InYourSpeakers will be reporting to you first when those dates are known.
