The lineup for the 2012 Governors Ball Music Festival looks like a winner. This is only the second year for this tremendous show, but wait until you check the list of artists.
They’ve made the show a bigger deal this year by expanding it to two days in its second year, making for a full weekend The festival reaches across multiple genres this year, and adds more indie rock, folk/Americana, and pop to its base of dance, hip hop, and electro. Acts such as Passion Pit, Duck Sauce (feat. A-Trak and Armand Van Helden), Chromeo, Special Disco Version (with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Pat Mahoney), Major Lazer, Santigold, Art vs Science, Beck, Modest Mouse, Explosions in the Sky, Devendra Banhart, Cage the Elephant, Cults, Phantogram, Freelance Whales, and The Jezabels will all take the stage at this year’s Ball. Additionally, the Governors Ball will feature unique art exhibitions from local and international artists, terrific food, and high-end beer, wine, and spirits.
The Governors Ball jumps off on June 23 and 24, 2012 at Randall Island Park on NYC’s East River. Last year’s fest brought in over 20,000 people, and organizers say they are expecting approx. 25,000 attendees per day for 2012. A limited quantity of Pre-Sale tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, February 22nd at 5 a.m. EST via Living Social.
