Guilty Ghosts - Veils

Whenever Guilty Ghosts puts out something new, we get excited. In the case of his latest album, Veils (due out in October), we’ve been holding out since May, when we reviewed his delicious single, “Tinted Windows” (feat. Guerre).

"Everlasting Evening," Guilty Ghosts' new single, features the whispy vocals of Sea Oleena (Montreal’s Charlotte Oleena), which are used to soften and accent the intense haze-heavy guitars and synths Guilty Ghosts employs on this track. When her voice comes in a bit more than half way through “Everlasting Evening,” her vocal phrasing serves as much as a rhythm instrument as the drum machine does. Sea Oleena's voice drips with sensuality which draws the listener in until the song wraps.

Veils will be the third album from Brooklyn, NY’s Tristan O’Donnell. When compared to Guilty Ghosts' previous efforts, the atmosphere created by "Everlasting Evening" is noticeably more sparse. Along with the addition of a significant vocal element on this track (as well as across the entire album), it's clear that Guilty Ghosts decided to move towards something new with Veils.

I’m tempted to say that Veils is Tristan’s finest work yet, but that would be misleading, as his previous releases are somewhat different from this latest project. In any event, to echo Sea Oleena's sentiment as she closes out "Everlasting Evening;" "it’ll never get old."
