Brainbheats describes his own sound as; “Sometimes dreamy, sometimes dancey. Sometimes jazzy, and sometimes dirty.” And, much like Philip K. Dick’s androids, “Brainbheats dreams of electric sheep.” I think Brainbeats could fashion electric sheep out of the ether with nothing but a keyboard and a bumpin’ bass line.
Brainbheats is the alias of musician and producer, Brian Healey. He’s toured internationally as a pianist/keyboardist, performing with world-class talent across a variety of genres, including: Maceo Parker, Holy Fuck, Delfeayo Marsalis, Ben Sollee, and many more. Brainbheats combines music, and technology in a blend of traditional instrumentats and electronic. Healy’s influences range from drum and bass mayhem to the melodicism of Sigur Ros. In addition to his original music, Brainbheats has created remixes for several artists including Cults, Das Racist, Erykah Badu, and recently Radiohead.
His new EP, Monster Logic, is filled with elements of jazz, chillwave, ambient, and more, all with a roughed up drum/bass core. I loved it the second it came out of my speakers and hit my ears. It’s truly spectacular.
