This Brooklyn-based, Boston-bred indie duo describe themselves as a “piano bashing, cymbal crashing, crooning, swooning two-person tune machine.”
Laura Bridget Regan (piano/vocals) and Kyle Thompson (drums) are currently on tour, which, as a small indie band, was no easy feat to pull off. They had limited funds for a a lengthy tour, so they raised part of the money through Kickstarter.
While the band’s current incarnation is a duo, it actually started as a larger band in Boston. “Bridget” left the old band and Boston for Brooklyn owing to what she felt was a lack of control over the musical direction of the band. She met up with Thompson, who had just moved to Brooklyn from Vegas, and the two began playing together. Their latest album Still Life was released last July. They just released a new two song EP, Apples & Oranges which includes “Left for Dead” and, naturally, the title track. If you’re trying to see which way the weather’s blowing with Bridget and the Squares, it's a mix of a lower-key Florence & the Machine and Amanda Palmer.
There are only two "official" tracks on Apples & Oranges, but look for more from this great up-and-coming duo in their links at the right.
