New London artist, Barbarossa, (AKA James Mathé), fires off a solid opening salvo with the release of his old/new single, "The Load."
"The Load" was actually recorded prior to this, but Mathé’s new label, Memphis Industries decided to do a retread of the original and send it up as a single for his upcoming new album. It’s a minimalistic, delicate ballad, punctuated with a distorted synth line that adds tension to an otherwise smooth piece of work. Barbarossa combines electro with a soulful vocal that will remind you of Tim Kasher.
Barbarossa has previously released music with the Fence Collective, had his music featured on “Elementary,” and “How I Met Your Mother,” supported Anna Calvi on tour, and toured as part of Jose Gonzales' live band to name a few.
Mathé is an exciting emerging talent. Look for the official release of “The Load” on April 8.
