On May 1st, the second ever Converse Band of Ballers basketball tournament is going down in Atlanta. If you have ever wanted to see some of your favorite rappers, singers, bands, and songwriters get down on the court, this is your chance. The three-on-three tournament includes Georgia rock bands The Black Lips and of Montreal, as well as rappers like Jay Electronica, OJ da Juiceman, Pill, Sean Price, Donnis, Shawty Lo, Jermaine Dupri, and defending champion Jim Jones. Converse’s love of music and sports brings both to the world in their expectedly annual tournament.

Last year was the first annual event held in New York City and Jim Jones’ team took home the $10k cash reward in the end. This year, however, The Black Lips is raising the bar.

The Black Lips will be receiving $5,000 from Converse for participating, which will be donated to the Auditory Verbal Centre Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of deaf children, some of whom have been outfitted with cochlear implants that allow them to play music. The Black Lips are challenging their opponents to donate to charities as well.

Both of Montreal and The Black Lips have made videos hyping up their participation in the tournament. However, seeing how the Jones’ team has recruited former Washington Wizards player God Shammgod, neither one should really fill anyone with confidence that either band will be able to take home the cake. Whoever the winner will be, hopefully the music/sports collaborative tournament will produce a charitable outcome in the end.
