Panda Bear and the boys recorded a lively set at one of their favorite venues.
Animal Collective may have finished putting the final touches on their 10th LP but before we get to hear anything new, the band has decided to release their third live album. Titled Live at 9:30, the 13 song collection holds a special meaning for the group, as it was recorded at the infamous 9:30 venue in Baltimore. In a press release, Geologist discussed the importance of the venue as well as the memories it holds for them:
"Growing up in Baltimore, we’ve been seeing shows at 9:30 for over 20 years, back to when the building was called WUST. First time was Pavement in 1994. Always one of our favorite places to see shows, and always one of the most fun places to play a show. Unless the power goes out."
If the track list is any indication, fans are in for a career spanning treat. The album includes "My Girls," "The Purple Bottle," and “Brothersport” just to name a few. Live at 9:30 is available for digital download on Friday and can be ordered as a limited edition, hand-numbered triple LP box set here.
