Alberta Cross singer Petter Ericson Stakeee and Joe Biden's nephew, Jamie Biden, have joined together to form Dicey Hollow, an indie folk band based out of New York.
The project began in 2013, the duo explain on their Facebook page that after two years of collaboration and songwriting, that their vision has finally come to fruition. "Silver and Sand" is the first single from their self-titled EP, due to drop July 24.
Until the EP drops, describing a definitive sound for Dicey Hollow would be a little premature. But from "Silver and Sand," the band's focus seems to be a little less on rock than Alberta Cross, with more of an emphasis on the acoustic guitar cushioned by synthy string arrangements. Stakee's high, emotive voice is similar to Thom Yorke's of Radiohead though the band's overall sound is reminiscent of Iron and Wine- slow, Americana folk music that evokes feelings of a midsummer night's reverie.
Dicey Hollow has yet to announce any tour dates but IYS is looking forward to their 6 song EP. With names like Aaron Embry and Claudius Mittendorfer (Interpol) involved with the creation and production of Dicey Hollow, the EP is sure to deliver. In the meantime, check out "Silver and Sand" and "Howl at the Moon" on the band's Soundcloud. Both songs are perfect aural additions to a waning summer night.
