Evoke (formerly known as Alden Groves) is the next big thing from Denver, Colorado. Not only is he a songwriter and producer, but he also describes himself as a philosopher with a passion for emotions. Creating enjoyable, danceable tracks is only a fraction of his musical mission. In the end, what motivates him is to create music with the greater purpose to "help people embrace and endure."

For this reason, it is clear that his debut album Withdrawal, set to release on January 22, will be more than party tunes. As described on Evoke's official website, the album will explore the experiences of "love lost, hitting rock bottom, and a seemingly hopeless recovery: Alden puts to words what it takes to become galvanized and find yourself again."

If that isn't enough to get you interested, it is important to note that Evoke is not just an emotional guy with a synth. Despite only recently stepping out into the electronic scene, Evoke has already garnered praise and admiration for his tracks "Answers" and "The Day the Rain Came," featuring Mason James, which collectively gathered about 600,000 plays through SoundCloud and EDM.com (both are available to download for free). Evoke is inspired by artists such as Phantogram, MUSE, Toro y Moi and Snakehips, and his pulsating, heartfelt music reflects these influences.

So, listen to the teaser for Evoke's debut album above, and keep a couple of his tunes at the ready for the next time Uncle Bob says "that techno stuff just doesn't have any feeling to it!" You're wrong, Uncle Bob. You're wrong and we can prove it!
