Welcome to Death Row
Welcome to Death Row

It's called "Straight Outta LA."

I kid, I kid.

There were already rumors of an impending sequel floating around, but now it's official. Hot off the massive success of Straight Outta Compton, the biopic's writer, S. Leigh Savidge, has announced that a follow up film is in the works: "Welcome to Death Row." The film will focus on the west coast rap collective Death Row Records, made up of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G, and Korupt.

Savidge is apparently shopping the movie to studios as a sequel to "Straight Outta Compton," but many are skeptical of it moving forward as no one involved owns any rights to the music. There is no word yet on a potential cast or director.

If it moves forward, "Welcome to Death Row" will be the third Tupac-related biopic currently in the works. Whether or not the project is an attempt to capitalize on the societal trend created by "Straight Outta Compton" or simply a writer with a great story to tell, the biopic will hopefully give a more complete picture of the events that took place during that violently turbulent time in hip hop.

"Straight Outta Compton" is still at #1 in the box office, grossing over $130 million since it's release.
