For the sake of simplicity, there is only one thing that can be said for certain about Colfax Speed Queen: They do it right. They play right, they sing right, and they rock the living hell out of their songs.
Hailing from Denver, this garage rock revivalist quartet fills the speakers to the max with the truest, most honest rock and roll to ever emerge from the Centennial State. Their style feels like a blast from the past with its organ-infused, '60s rock emphasis. There is never a dull moment in the sound, what with Matt Loui losing his mind on the mic and destroying on the guitar. Drummer Reed McKinny and bassist Ryan Halgren provide the steadiest rhythm section around, and Rob Halgren on the keys is perhaps the best thing to happen to rock since the amplifier was invented. Although their catalog is a bit meager with only a debut EP immediately available, the addition of their newest album Satisfaction Intended (out June 25th on Hot Congress Records) more than makes up for the scarcity in material. Headlining the record are the two singles, "Fiends in the Night" and "Bathtub Crank", both of which are accompanied by videos, the latter of which can be viewed below.
For rock lovers out there, Colfax Speed Queen will come as a welcome surprise. Though they've only been around since 2010, there is definitely a bright future ahead for the boys.
