Indians came out of the woodwork, really. Signing to 4AD in September of last year, Søren Løkke Juul has created a one man show that was only really meant to challenge himself. He started performing as his moniker Indians in February of 2012, and has since performed with bands such as Beirut, Dan Deacon, and Savages. Not too bad for someone who really has only a year with this name under his belt.

Having released his debut album in late January, Indians, hailing from Copenhagen, has blended his smooth vocals with almost cinematic sounds. Juul has been in many previous bands, but it is with Indians that he steps from behind the shade and really takes center stage. He's been compared to Bon Iver and The Shins, which is fair due to his brooding tone, but his haunting vocals have a higher range and his mix of piano and dramatic instrumentation is more ethereal and thus sets him apart.

While there is only a small catalogue, Indians is one to watch. Catch him May 5th at Sasquatch Festival in Washington, and check out his 4AD Session below.
