Cedric Bixler Zavala, the co-founder and lead singer of progressive rock behemoth The Mars Volta, announced on Twitter that he is no longer a member of The Mars Volta:

“Thank 2 to all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album.”

Zavala’s resignation comes after The Mars Volta guitarist and co-leader Omar Rodriquez-Lopez’s new band Bosnian Rainbows released its first studio song, “Torn Maps”.

“I tried my hardest to keep it going… But Bosnian Rainbows was what we got instead. I can’t sit here and pretend anymore. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta.”

“To all our fans around the world,” said Zavala, “thank you for giving a fuck. You all ruled!”
