SoundCloud Signs First Major Label Deal And Announces Subscription Service

In a landmark announcement in the march towards creating a financially stable brand, the influential music company SoundCloud has signed their first deal with a major music label.

The announcement comes from a report by the New York Times' Ben Sisario, SoundCloud has reached a deal with the music giant Warner Music Group. The deal states that the artists represented by WMG will receive payment for their SoundCloud selections, and the artists will also be able to choose which particular projects make thewr way to the streaming platform.

This deal comes off the coattails of SoundCloud recent implementation of advertisements throughout the website. SoundCloud will pay WMG artists for all of their additions including mash-ups and DJ mixes, which have become more prevalent within the worlds of hip-hop and dance music.

Lastly, according to the deal, there will be a paid subscription aspect added to the site early next year, so to all of you out there get ready for change.
