Back in the early 2000s Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee met in the underground live hip-hop scene. Soon after, they began to work together as Break Science and they've been blurring the lines between genres ever since.
Break Science released their latest EP Monolith Code at the end of January on Pretty Lights Music. The Brooklyn-based duo have made a name for themselves for their abilities to blend glitch, hip-hop, dub, drum and bass, and electronic all into one fluid sound that is very unique to them. On their Pretty Lights Music page Deitch is quoted as saying, "our music is layered with different frequencies and sonic textures so it becomes something you can listen to multiple times and STILL hear new elements you might have missed the first time." This is certainly true of their track "Victory." The song opens and closes with a brief lullaby feel, but every moment in between is full of a perfect balance of hard-hitting beats, rap verses, and electronic sounds (including the sound of a digital ring - which should be annoying, right? It's not, it's awesome). Monolith Code is available as a free download, do yourselves a favor and check it out!
