Taragana Pyjarama - Lo Ng

Our Rating

Music Player:

As much as I appreciated the last release from from Taragana Pyjarama, I wish I could be as enthusiastic about the new one, “Lo Ng.”

Quirky kicks of sound are nice at the onset, but the song is almost painfully repetitive in its build up. “Lo Ng” makes pleasant enough background sound, but never really gives the listener anything to grasp onto. The production is lush though and there are some bits where the build seems to really be going somewhere.

In the end though, it just doesn’t offer enough of a hand-hold. The chirps and clicks over repetitive percussion beats in the somewhat over-long track simply don’t feel particularly new or fresh.

Taragana Pyjarama does have a debut album Tipped Bowls on June 18th and it will be interesting to see which direction the rest of the tracks on it go.
