That’s the first thing that comes to mind when describing Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new track “Paradisco.” The song was released ahead of a two album collection of previously unreleased work by Gainsbourg called Stage Whisper.

On this piece, the vocals are in keeping with Gainsbourg’s airy, breathy style. The music has a great polish and beat, thanks in part to Cole M.G.N.’s drum programing and Beck’s song writing and production talent. You can sense and feel the masters who’ve influenced the music makers. In some ways this also feels as if it could be a tribute to the music of her parents (Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg). But only as if by chance...that's how easy Gainsbourg and Beck make it sound.

“Paradisco” is a song that fits Gainsbourg’s voice well and feels modern, even though there is a Tom Tom Club-esque vibe to the piece overall. A light hand and a clever sense of humor (the buzz of the mosquito…love it!) make this a soft-on-the-ears dance track with a refreshing take on a sound we may find somewhat familiar, but never grow tired of.
