It's not the first time I've been impressed with Oberhofer. And something tells me it will be the last.
When I reviewed Oberhofer’s “Gotta Go” late last year, there were references (rightfully so) to Elvis Costello and surf music. On Oberhofer’s latest release, “Heart”, there aren’t. Far from it, actually...but that’s not a bad thing at all.
“Heart” starts with a delicate piano drawing you in, speeding up and dumping you down the rabbit hole, as it were. Xylophone tinkers through the background in a repetitive but pleasing rhythm. Brad Oberhofer’s voice is low and smooth as the song builds with a dreamy, light touch. It’s another great effort from Oberhofer that continues to intrigue and impress.
That’s a good thing as this single is out ahead of the impending release of the full length Time Capsules II. “Heart” may not have much in common with the heavier handed “Gotta Go,” but that just proves that Oberhofer has even more to offer.
