Amanda Palmer gave her Kickstarter backers an extra surprise last night—the first glimpse of the new album in the form of the leaked song "Do It with a Rockstar." The rest of the world had to wait until today, and this is a song no one wants to wait to hear.

"Do It with a Rockstar" has been a work-in-progress for a few years for Palmer, and thanks to encouragement from a fellow musician, it's been finished. It's the first single from her upcoming album with her new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra.

is the heaviest music we've ever heard from Amanda Palmer, especially since the last we heard from her was "Ukulele Anthem." This is much more rock-oriented, with chaotic instruments that pound and pulsate the whole way through.

The song opens with Palmer's sweeping vocals fading in to culminate in an epic, intense introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the song. As a result, "Do It with a Rockstar" sounds like it could be an excellent opener for the album itself, or at least a great teaser for what's to come. The song also has a great hook, and it has Amanda's typical spunk and feisty lyrics: "Do you want to dance / Do you want to fight / Do you want to get drunk and stay the night?"

For all its fun, it has a few moments of softness as the music slows to an interlude: "Wait, wait, wait / I'll be fine in a minute."

Although Palmer has said the songs on the album are very different from each other, fans should get excited. Consider it incentive to support the Kickstarter if you haven't already. And in the words of Palmer herself, "Enjoy this shit and play it loud."
