The metal-faced one has made a pretty big comeback in 2009. Not that DOOM ever fell off or lost our hearts, but after a few years that had us shaking our heads and asking "where's that MF DOOM?", his triumphant return to the realm of 'rappers who drop albums now and again' is certainly due some degree of notice and celebration. Some folks, like this Thom Yorke fellow from England, and some mysterious, identity-withholding beat-makers calling themselves the Madvillainz (original) are celebrating DOOM's return by giving Born Like This cut "Gazillion Ear" the remix treatment. The Gazillion Ear EP is out now via Lex and they've been nice enough to give us a free earful of the proceedings in the form of the Madvillainz remix, featuring a cameo by Kanye West. Unlike Thom Yorke's brutally morose take on "Gazillion Ear," which loses marks for being, if nothing else, a lost opportunity for the ever-moody Radiohead frontman to loosen up and have a little fun with his work, the Madvillainz take on the track is dance floor ready for your bump-and-grinding pleasure. Those looking for more hip-hop and less crunk will be happier with the second half of the track, for sure.
