With what is sure to be one of the most anticipated pop albums of 2010, MGMT's second record Congratulations is set to be quite a trippy affair if the recently revealed cover art is anything to go by.
The album is due to be hitting shelves and charts alike with a bang on April 13th and seems to be being presented as a rather conceptual body of work. This is backed up by the fact that the Brooklyn due have declared that no singles will be released from the album and it's main inspiration is "[us] trying to deal with all the craziness that's been going on since our last album took off."
After the massive success of Oracular Spectacular Columbia Records will no doubt be trying their best to get Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Martin Goldwasser to come around to idea of releasing something from the album.
With the track list already announced and the release date creeping up on the world, the bandana totting duo have now given us a glimpse at the artwork, which certainly follows the Psychedelic nature of previous releases to say the least.
The man responsible for the rather impressive cataclysmic color convulsion is artist Anthony Ausang, whose website (www.ausgangart.com) exhibits an array of other original pieces which seem reminiscent of a 21st century acid tripping Tom and Jerry stuck inside a 1990's Nintendo game. Very cool stuff.
