I think all of us have waited long enough for Metric's new album (4 years to be exact). Well, as of this week, the wait is almost over. Their recently-titled Fantasies, is being produced by Gavin Brown and Jimmy Shaw and mixed by John O'Mahony of Coldplay and The Strokes. The new record is scheduled to be released April 14th.

Metric, who will be self-releasing this album without the aid of their former label, Last Gang Records recently said “we might go down in flames, or it might be the best move ever. Either way it will have been on our terms, and that for us is success.” Guitarist, Jimmy Shaw went on to talk about the writing process for Fantasies, stating,

"We allowed this record to dictate its own process. Whatever that process was going to be, it was going to be, we were relaxed about it. The whole time I could hear the sound I wanted in my head - really big and really dreamy."

Fantasies will available for pre-order on March 2nd on the band's website, and if you reserve a copy before the release date, you'll get to download an MP3 of the first single off the album, "Help I'm Alive." Be on the look out for a US tour in June with exact dates to be announced in the coming weeks.
