A fairly new band out Los Angeles, Local Natives have an interesting sense in both the aural and visual arts. On their MySpace page, they describe their sound as "Indie-Jungle-Rock," which we here at IYS think is actually a pretty accurate description of their music. On the very same page, as one listens to their melodically exotic tracks, the typical fan can browse through several animations Local Natives have posted of themselves. They are diabolically morbid, yet manage to be trippy enough to enjoy at the same time. The band's album artwork is of a similar style - photoshopped images of the band members with bright splatters of color over their faces, with their title written juvenilely in paint, defacing the property behind them. But, of course, this is a media magazine centered around independent music, so let's get back to the aural aspects of this band. They have just announced they will be releasing their widely-anticipated debut LP, Gorilla Manor, on February 16th. They will also be playing a US tour in support of its release. For a few live Daytrotter recordings of songs off the forthcoming LP, the artwork described above, and a list of dates, read on past the jump.
