Lil Wayne, the eccentric emcee responsible for the uncharacteristically awful rock/rap mish-mash Rebirth is evidently "looking forward" to his upcoming year-long prison term for gun possession. According to a conversation with Rolling Stone, the hard-working rapper believes that the experience is necessary, and a sign from the heavens. Or something.

"I look at things as 'Everything is meant to be'... I know it's an experience that I need to have if God's putting me through it," Mr. Carter said of his impending incarceration. Maybe so, but it's also an experience you don't need to have if you don't carry around firearms illegally. So maybe, just maybe, God is telling you not to walk around strapped quite so often, or quite so unlawfully. That wouldn't make God very gangster, though, would it?

Rebirth is (finally) available for purchase now; let's see if Wayne has a Gospel record cooking when his prison term expires next February.
