Day one at Outside Lands kicked off with some remarkable acts. In the early afternoon, we caught Leon Bridges who started off our music experience nicely with his soulful tunes. We then saw First Aid Kit, whose angelic harmonies and lively stage presence, had the large crowd dancing to their folky tunes. While they played many songs from their most recent album, Stay Gold, the crowd roared with their cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” St. Vincent amazed us with her guitar and captivating songs, mainly taking from her last two albums to cover her set. The crowd exploded within the first few minutes of RL Grime’s set. While we didn’t care for Mumford & Son’s latest album, we have to say they put on a good show. A huge crowd awaited them and Mumford & Sons had them bopping throughout the night. Overall, day one started off strong.
