Sciatica is a bitch. Getting your sciatic nerve compressed or irritated, causing horrible pain to radiate from the no-man's land between your lower back and butt? Not at all fun. Especially when it leads one to a night in the hospital and some canceled tour dates.

Electronica artist Dan Deacon had some of that going on last Wednesday evening, when he began suffering extreme pain to a chronic case of acute sciatica. “The pain had come to a peak,” said Deacon in a Facebook message to his fans. “It was impossible to bear and it was frightening.”

The pain and subsequent hospital stay has forced Deacon to cut short his current US Tour by about five dates. Deacon, who was touring in support of his latest full-length release Bromst, has vowed to reschedule those dates once he is hale and healthy. "I need to focus more on my health, which will lead to a clearer mind and a more focused music. I'm not sure what the future will bring but hopefully I'll see you there. "
